We prioritize reuse and recycling: plastics and metals are recovered; batteries are recycled through certified programs; refurbished devices go to schools, nonprofits, and families. Our process is transparent, certified, and built for a circular economy.
Impact: Each refurbished device prevents approximately 60 kg of carbon emissions vs. new manufacturing. We target high reuse rates—the majority of devices are refurbished for reuse; only non-recoverable components go to certified recycling. Zero landfill.
iDigital’s recycling operations adhere to industry-leading standards. We maintain alignment with R2v3 (Responsible Recycling) and e-Stewards requirements for environmental and worker safety. Our data destruction processes follow NAID AAA guidelines for secure erasure and physical destruction. We comply with state and federal e-waste and data-protection regulations and hold applicable permits and licenses for electronics recycling and ITAD. Our facilities use renewable energy where available (including solar) and LED lighting; we minimize single-use plastics across operations.
Before any device is refurbished, resold, recycled, or donated, all data is permanently removed. We use NAID AAA–aligned methods and NIST 800-88 guidelines: certified software wiping and/or physical destruction (shredding/disintegration) with documented chain of custody and certificates of destruction upon request.
1. Acceptance: We accept any electronic device—old or new—at our drop-off locations or via scheduled collection.
2. Secure data destruction: All data-bearing equipment undergoes certified wiping or physical destruction before any reuse or recycling.
3. Sorting & testing: Devices are sorted; those suitable for refurbishment are tested and repaired in our facilities.
4. Recycling: Non-reusable components and materials are recycled through certified downstream partners in compliance with R2/e-Stewards.
5. Donation: Refurbished, fully wiped devices are donated to schools, nonprofits, and community programs, with documentation of secure data destruction provided. We do not donate any equipment until data has been fully and permanently destroyed.
